Revolution

-What arguements did Macaulay use to support the Reform Act of 1832?
The French Revolution influenced Macaualy's belief that reform was better than revolution.  His friend said if they passed the law, England would soon be a Republic.  Said told people that the House of Commons would depose the king, and expel the lords from their house.
However, Macaulay thinks Monarchy and artistocracy are still valuable and useful.  He thinks people will be happy in a government where the middle class people will not defend themselves.  He believed the the government would continue to stand if the middle class had no gut, no confidence.
-Was he correct? Why or why not?
I mean I do not think so.  Looking at todays government, the middle class people do have a say.  I do not know how the governent would stand if the middle class had no say, or no confidence to say.
-Why was Carl Schurz so excited when he heard the news about the revolution in France?
Schurz was so excited about the news of the revolution because he knew that Louis Phillipe would be driven away.  It was Schurz chance to stand up and claim the spot of U.S. senator.
-Do you think being a universty student helps explain his reaction? Why or why not?
Not sure.  I do not think it would have made a difference.
-What differences do you see in the approaches of these two writers?
I answered that in the first question.
-What do these selections tell you about the development of politics in the German states and Britain in the nineteenth century?
That every one had a different view on government and all wanted to run it their way.
