Child Labor

This subject was very hard for me to read and watch.  It was very depressing.  I can not imagine children working, especially at the age of four.  I do not understand how people can be so cruel.  How parents could send there children to work for money that may not even be made.  Children died and were severely injured not only by the machines, but by the over lookers.  If the children got tired, which is to be expected, they would be lifted by there ankles and dipped there heads into the water cistern.  If a child was late by only one minute, they would probably be fined and most likely whipped.  Or sometimes they would have a weight tied around their necks and forced to walk up and down the aisles to be an example of what could happen.  This could last up to an hour.  Some boy would be dragged naked from their beds to factories only holding their clothes.  Thy would have to get dressed there.  Child laborers were chosen because they were easier to "replace and manipulate".  They were tiny enough to fit under or in machines if something breaks.  Usually in this scenario a child most likely would not be returning home after "fixing" one of thes machines.  And if they did they would be severely injured.  While reading and watching the video I did not notice much about sick or injured children.  If a child is very ill or dying are they still forced to work?  If a child is severely injured at work are they still expected to continue working?  Like what if they were going to live but lost some limbs?
